About the REDD+ ECO2 Jurisdictional Program

The Government of the Province of Misiones is developing the "Environmental Services Benefits Program of the Province of Misiones – ECO2", with the purpose of rewarding those who with their activities conserve and/or improve the services provided by ecosystems, under the legal framework of Provincial Law No. 103 on Payments for Environmental Services.

Within the ECO2 Program, the Government of the Province of Misiones is developing the REDD+ ECO2 Jurisdictional Program (or "REDD+ ECO2 Program"), designed to incentivize activities that reduce deforestation and degradation of native forests, through an innovative financing strategy that will provide predictable and additional funds through the verification of carbon credits from the voluntary market, generated with the Jurisdictional Nested REDD+ (JNR) methodology, from the international organization Verra.

The REDD+ ECO2 Program is a component of the Provincial REDD+ Strategy. For more information about this strategy and the methodology, visit the official ECO2 Program website at: https://programajnr.misiones.gob.ar/ or the various information capsules of this Dialogue Table

What is a Virtual Dialogue Table?

The Virtual Dialogue Table of the ECO2 Program of the Province of Misiones, hereinafter "ECO2 Dialogue Table", is a virtual space for participation, dissemination, and capacity building related to the "REDD+ ECO2 Jurisdictional Program", an initiative under development driven by the Government of the Province of Misiones, to promote and incentivize the conservation of ecosystem services, protect our jungle and native forests, enhance the development of all Misiones residents, and contribute to the global fight against climate change, through an innovative financial mechanism at the global level.

The ECO2 Dialogue Table was created to complement the participatory process initiated on September 30, 2022, and to clearly and transparently systematize the multi-stakeholder dialogue being carried out by the Government of the Province of Misiones for the design and dissemination of the REDD+ ECO2 Jurisdictional Program, in compliance with REDD+ environmental and social safeguards, according to international requirements.
